Gaza and Jerusalem CNN —Thousands of Palestinians fled northern Gaza on Wednesday, traveling miles on foot through the battered enclave in a growing exodus prompted by Israel’s intensified ground and air campaign. It was the fifth day in a row that the IDF opened an evacuation window, and numbers of people fleeing south have increased each day. Israel has been ramping up its offensive inside Gaza, following the October 7 attacks that left 1,400 people in Israel dead. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant claimed Tuesday that IDF troops were at the “heart of Gaza City” and targeting Hamas infrastructure and commanders there. So far, traffic at Rafah has reopened one way allowing aid trucks to go slowly into Gaza. "We would hope that any agreement to get any individuals out would also unlock the possibility of American citizens or their families and other foreign nationals coming out," Miller said. "We're working with various parties to try to facilitate their departure from Gaza.

"Analysis conducted independently by the Canadian Forces Intelligence Command indicates with a high degree of confidence that Israel did not strike the Al-Ahli hospital on 17 October 2023," it said in a statement. The strike was more likely caused by an errant rocket fired from Gaza, the Defence department said based on analysis of open source and classified reporting. "We judge that Israel was not responsible," said the unclassified U.S. intelligence report. We are still assessing the likely casualty figures and our assessment may evolve, but this death toll still reflects a staggering loss of life," the report said. The report said "only light structural damage at the hospital" has been observed and there was "no observable damage to the main hospital building and no impact craters."
